Description: This essential amino acid is necessary for growth, detoxification, and normal metabolism.

  • Detoxification support
  • HIV
  • Pancreatitis
  • Parkinson's disease

Precautions: B vitamins, especially B6, folic acid, and B12, should be supplemented along with methionine to prevent the build-up of homocysteine, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. People with liver or kidney disease should not supplement amino acids unless under the direction of a health-care professional.

Dosage: Take 500 mg one to two times daily.
