Description: Lutein is a member of the carotenoid family. It has antioxidant activity and is known to be a key component of the macula, an area of the retina that is responsible for vision. It is mainly used as a supplement to prevent and treat macular degeneration.

Indications:

  • Cataracts
  • Macular degeneration

Precautions: No side effects have been reported.

Dosage: Take 15 mg daily if you have macular degeneration and up to 5 mg daily as a preventative dosage.
