Description: Arginine is one of the better-studied amino acids that has been shown to be helpful for several conditions.

Indications:

  • Angina
  • Congestive heart failure
  • High blood pressure
  • HIV
  • Impotence
  • Infertility
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Surgical recovery
  • Wound healing

Precautions: People with liver or kidney disease should not supplement amino acids unless under the direction of a health-care professional. Arginine should not be used by people with oral or genital herpes.

Dosage: Dosage recommendations vary, depending on the condition. Most conditions require anywhere from 3 to 20 grams daily.
