The average daily dietary intake level that is sufficient to meet the nutrient requirement of nearly all (97 to 98 percent) healthy individuals in a group. In other words, the RDA is the amount of vitamins and minerals that a healthy person requires to stay healthy. This standard is regarded as woefully inadequate for optimal health by most nutrition-oriented doctors.
