Cell phone manufacturers and retailers make it easy for you to recycle your old cell phones, which can be harmful to the environment when disposed of improperly. Many wireless service providers that sell cell phones must accept them back for recycling at no cost to the customer. Additionally, there are many local resources for donating or selling your cell phones to charitable organizations.

Local L.A. Organizations that Accept Cell Phones for Recycling

  • Los Angeles has S.A.F.E. Centers that accept e-waste such as cell phones and other electronics for recycling. Click here to find the center closest to you.

  • For those areas that are not served by S.A.F.E. Centers, the City of Los Angeles holds mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. To participate in these events, bring your hazardous waste (no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds) in its original, leak-proof container to the event site.
