Introducing Energy Efficiency to Your Home: From Insulation to Appliances
By Eric Corey Freed

Although solar and wind power offer a clean and exciting way to produce energy, probably the best thing you can do is to reduce and save the energy you already use. You can save energy and money with no loss of comfort or convenience by taking some simple, energy-efficient steps.

The refrigerators, heaters, and air conditioners sold today need only about half the amount of energy they did 20 years ago. Homes built using these techniques will use a fraction of the energy needed to heat, cool, and light conventional buildings. Most of them can be applied to existing buildings, cutting the building’s current energy bills in half.
